BeritaJakarta.com Commission B of City Council in the near future will call West Jakarta Mayor, Fadjar Pandjaitan, connected with curb operation on 152 street vendors at Pancoran Glodok area, West Jakarta, on Idul Fitri. City Council will call Mayor because there’re some mistakes in the curb operation.

“They’re vendors maintained by West Jakarta Municipality since 1997,” Ben VB Sitompul, Deputy of Commission B of City Council, explained, after receiving representative of Pancoran Glodok street vendors on Tuesday (15/11). On that opportunity, those vendors were accompanied by their lawyers.

Ben said that Commission B would ask explanation on the curb operation. “They should be removed first to another location. Therefore, we’re not adding unemployed number of people,” Ben said.

Meanwhile, representative of Pancoran Glodok street vendor, Wasiono, told members of Commission B that the operation was wrong in target. Those vendors that being curbed were legal street vendors since June 12, 1997 until March 31, 1998. The license then lengthened until December 29, 2001 to 2003. after that, based on Letter of Decision of Governor No 959 Year 2003, the license is lengthened until 2005.

“The license to vend in that location is over this year. It should be lengthened, like previous years,” Wasiono said. "We’re not selling our goods at prohibited places such as park or pedestrian way,” he added.

Sunardjo Sumargono, spokesperson of vendors said that vendors suffered around Rp. 156 billion, due to curb operation. Most of vendors who got into curb operation were selling electronic goods, fruits, and clothes.
