Jakarta UMP to Be Increased to Rp 1,529,150
The Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Department announced that in 2013, Jakarta Minimum Wage (UMP) will be increased as much as Rp 1,529,150. The amount of UMP is adjusted with the value of decent living standards (KHL). According to temporary study, the amount of KHL in 2013 is reaching Rp 1,650,000.
Head of Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Department, Deded Sukandar, said the UMP in 2013 is surely increasing. “We’re still surveying KHL for 2013. But according to a temporary study, its amount reaches Rp 1,650,000,” he stated, Tuesday (9/11).
This year, the amount of UMP in the city is 102.9 percent of KHL or increased 18.5 percent compared to last year. While the UMP in 2011 was only Rp 1,290,000, and this year its amount reaches Rp 1,529,150.
KHL calculation is also focusing on economic and inflation growth in the city. Therefore, the amount of UMP in 2013 is hoped not causing any conflict. “So far, the problem of UMP hike is conducive enough. There is no rejection from workers, because such hike also has accommodated the workers’ request,” told Sukendar.
Eventually, the decision on UMP will refer to the regulation of Jakarta Payroll Council No. 242/2010 about Jakarta Payroll Council Work System and Regulation No. 243/2010 about Provincial Payroll Council Session Rules.
Before determining the amount of UMP, Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Department will coordinate with Payroll Council and the workers. So, all elements who are involved and affected by UMP decision could participate.
In 2012, there are two companies that paid their workers below UMP amount. But, it only occurred for two months on January and February. From then on, they have paid their workers in accordance to UMP. Unfortunately, Sukendar is reluctant to disclose the name of the companies. “They are small companies. It has been resolved now,” he exclaimed.
