The concert of legendary rock band Metallica will be held soon at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta, on Sunday (8/25). Thousands of tickets are sold out to the fans of the band.
In order to anticipate commotion during the concert, thousands of security personnel will be put on standby. “We will deploy 2,694 personnel and establish eight security posts,” stated Jakarta Police spokesman, Police Great Commissioner Rikwanto, Friday (8/23).
According to Rikwanto, the force to be deployed consists of joint security personnel from Jakarta Police, Central Jakarta Resort Police, Police Car Brigades, the army, as well as fire handling officers. “They will be deployed in spread-out manner. Some are placed outside the stadium with traffic officers, while some others are put at entrance and exit gates,” he informed.
To create comfort and safety for the concert-goers, the police have also prepared metal detectors at the entrance to the concert area. Audiences’ belongings will also be checked to avoid any prohibited items. “There will be metal detectors and other examination at entrance points. There must be no sharp weapon or liquor comes in,” stressed Rikwanto.
The concert itself is predicted to be crowded by tens of thousands of audiences. Thus, traffic congestion would probably happen on Jl. Pemuda and Jl. Asia Afrika, the entry points to the stadium. “If it happens, police will do traffic diversion. But, it is just situational,” he added.
In addition, Rikwanto urges the people who want to watch the concert not to buy tickets from brokers. “If tickets in the counters have sold out, that means the tickets selling is already closed. Do not buy ticket at any other place,” he reminded.
