After having been launched back on January 22, Jakarta Governor, Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo finally had the chance to try the implementation of electronic ticket (e-ticket) on Transjakarta bus Corridor 1 (Blok M-Kota). Wearing full Betawian attire, Jokowi got on the bus from Harmoni without the need of queuing because he used Jakcard e-ticket.
On that occasion, Jokowi assessed that the use of Transjakarta e-ticket is already running well. With this system, it could diminish passenger’s long queue at ticket counter in each shelter. After paying with Jakcard, he directly rode feeder Transjakarta bus towards Blok M belongs to Damri.
Jokowi prefer to stand up due to bus was crowded with passengers. Initially he plans to ride the bus until Blok M Shelter, yet he decided to stop at Indonesia Hotel (HI) Roundabout shelter.
“It was smooth, I would like to try the new system and the machine could be used already. Usually, passengers have to form a queue in order to buy ticket,” told Jokowi, onboard Transjakarta bus, Wednesday (1/30).
Despite there are 66 new buses, he considered its amount needs to be added again. This is because passengers crammed on the bus. Thus 450 new buses will be provided to serve residents. They are 150 feeder buses and 200 single buses. “During rush hour the number of fleets will be added because at those hours the number of passengers would increase,” he told.
Jokowi admitted at this time, e-ticket implementation is not maximal yet. Not many of the residents are using it. On the other hand, next year he targeted for Transjakarta ticket purchase to wholly use e-ticket. "It needs to be campaigned and socialized. This is because there will come a time to wholly use e-ticket," he revealed.
One of officers at HI Roundabout Shelter, Luqman recorded that 55 passengers are using e-ticket. Every day, its usage keeps increasing. “There are 55 people using e-ticket in this shelter,” he finished.
