Besides enjoying the situation of Car Free Day at HI Roundabout, Sunday (11/25), Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo also had a meeting with Norway Trade and Industry Minister, Trond Giske, to discuss the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP).
It is planned that Jakarta Provincial Government is going to hold cooperation with a Norwegian company called RIN which interested to provide ERP service for Jakarta. “Mr. Giske wanted to see himself the situation in the field. It is coincidence there is Car Free Day activities, so he came to see it also,” said Jokowi, Sunday (11/25).
According to Jokowi, the meeting was just an early stage, while the offering will be studied first. “This is just an initial meeting. Mr. Giske was offering ERP system, so we want to see it first, whether it is suitable to be applied in Jakarta or not,” he stated.
Jokowi told that if the ERP system can overcome traffic congestion problems in Jakarta, he will apply it as soon as possible. “If the ERP system is useful here, of course I want it. The system is suitable in Bangkok, perhaps it may also be applied in Jakarta. However, this is just an initial meeting,” he uttered.
When asked about the technical implementation of ERP system, Jokowi asserted that it is still waiting for the government regulation first.
