To commemorate the International Museum Day on May 18, the Organizer of Technical Management Unit (UPT) of Monas will free the ticket for visitor who wants to visit to tourist zone which has become the Jakarta icon. The requirement is the visitor should wear batik dress. "It is aimed to increase the sense of nationalism," said Head of UPT Monas Rini Haryani to beritajakarta.com, Wednesday (5/18).
She stated that free visit is only to museum area. Whereas, for the visitors who want to go up to top of Monas, they should pay the ticket. "Free visit is also valid for other museums in Jakarta," she added.
She explained that it is aimed to support and socialize batik as Indonesia’s cultural heritage of world heritage by the Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Through this event, it is hoped the society can more respect, love and appreciate the museum in Jakarta. So, in the future, the society can more proactive in the effort of preservation of nation`s cultural heritage, to understand our history and culture, as well as its become as solid foundation to bring this nation become better, confidence, personality and strong in association between nation in the world.
Rini hoped that Museum Day can become momentum to increase appreciate and interest of Indonesia`s society to the museum. Moreover, a lot of sciences are can be found by society from the museums and etc. "It can be said, the museum as source of science and history," she stated.
