| Mediation In National Human Rights Commission Results in Three AgreementsBERITAJAKARTA.COM — 4/16/2010 8:56:56 PM
The mediation process between PT Pelindo II and the heirs of Mbah Priok graveyard held in National Human Rights Commission office, Jl Latuharhari, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday afternoon (4/16), finally resulted in three points of agreement to settle the dispute between two sides.
The mediation was difficult and in heating situation, because the both sides insisted on their own argument. However, three collective agreements were finally produced; first, the graveyard heirs agreed with the draft of master plan of Mbah Priok graveyard that will be made by PT Pelindo II within two weeks. Second, the container terminal development plan will also consider the interests of the people. Last, a commission will be established to study the master plan made by PT Pelindo II.
"The master plan will be proposed by PT Pelindo II which will complete on 30 April," said Vice Head External of National Human Rights Commission as well as Commissioner Nurkholis Hidayat, Friday (4/16).
In the meeting, Nurkholis Hidayat was accompanied by two commissioners, namely Syarifuddin Ngulma and Ridha Saleh. Pelindo II was represented by President Director RJ Lino, and the attorney Teuku Syahrul Ansyari. Meanwhile, the heirs of Mbah Priok graveyard were represented by Ali Baagil, Habib Muhammad and a senior attorney, Yan Juanda Saputra.
Nurkholis mentioned that in addition to members of the National Human Rights Commission, the commission to review the master plan will also include Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Muspida represented by Jakarta Vice Governor Prijanto, and a number of Islamic organizations namely Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Communication Forum for Betawi People (Forkabi), Forum Betawi Rempug (FBR), the Islamic Defender Front (FPI), Rabithah Alawiyah, and Forum Islamic Teaching Assembly.
Hidayat also explained, if PT Pelindo submit the final draft of the graveyard site master plan to the commission, it should be latest next 14 May. "The mediation will be held again on 4 June in the office of National Human Rights Commission in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the master plan which has been previously proposed," he explained.
Teuku Syahrul Ansyari, PT Pelindo II legal counsel, confirmed that his side only adjusts the development in line with the public interest.
Meanwhile, Yan Juanda Saputra, the heir’s attorney admitted that his side would solve the problem step by step. "We are committed to solving the existing problem," he noted.
