| Rally to Support Palestine Causes Traffic JamBERITAJAKARTA.COM — 3/20/2010 8:32:41 PM
Traffic jam happened at the circle traffic of Hotel Indonesia (HI) on Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta. It was caused by thousands of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) followers who held a rally to support the struggle of the Palestinian people. Long march (on foot) which started at 14.00 from Monas square involved mothers and children. Walking, they carried banners and replica attribute of Al-Aqsa Mosque. Sometimes, they sang and shouted anti-Israel yells.
The rally caused the vehicles heading to HI circle traffic to run slowly. As a result, there was an accumulation of two and four-wheeled vehicles in front of Indosat Building. To minimize the traffic jam, Central Jakarta officers of Satlantas Polres diverted the traffic to alternative roads.
Central Jakarta Head of Satlantas Police Metro, Pol. Commr. Asenan Slamet, said that the officers diverted the vehicles which want to pass HI circle traffic and Senayan to the direction of Menteng and then to Kuningan.
"The vehicles that do not want to be transferred are allowed to run behind the protesters slowly," he said, Saturday (3/20).
