Parking Near Vice President`s House, 6 Cars Padlocked

Padlocking the vehicles parked arbitrarily has been implemented by Jakarta Dept. of Transportation does not make drivers give up. Many drivers still park their vehicle without paying attention to the regulation. As many as six cars were padlocked by South Jakarta Officer of Transportation Department when they were parked on Jl. Buncit Raya, Mampangprapatan, Wednesday (3/17). In coincidence, the Vice President Boediono`s residence is on that street.


To support the regulation, eight personnel are deployed to the location. Two of them are policemen. South Jakarta Transportation Sub-department has prepared 60 locks to anticipate the great number of vehicles violating the parking regulation.


South Jakarta Head of Section for Supervision and Operational Control of Transportation Sub-department, Syahrizul, said that the illegal parking control was in accordance with Act. No 22/2009 on Traffic and Transportation.


Meanwhile, to control illegal parking, the sub-department has coordinated with Police department.


“Today, we focus on Jl. Buncit Raya, particularly in front of Immigration office. Because the location is environment of vice president residence, so it should be in order,” Syahrizul confirmed, Wednesday (3/17).


Besides that, his side will continuously control the illegal parking along Busway corridor VI. Actually, the controlling is only done for the cars left by the owner.   


His department will keep doing control in every location to make the people who arbitrarily park their vehicle give up.

 
Fransisca (31), whose car was padlocked, admitted that she was shocked by the padlocking but she agreed with the regulation.


"I just follow the people who park here. If my car was finally padlocked, it’s ok. In principle, if there is such control, I was fine. The process is not too difficult. We are just recorded and get the ticket," said this resident of  Mampang said.
