2010, East Jakarta Curbs 288 Troubled Buildings

BERITAJAKARTA.COM — 3/17/2010 12:02:17 PM

During 2010, there have been 288 buildings curbed by East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Building Control. All those buildings violate the permit. Cipayung Sub-district has the highest number of troubled buildings as many as 50 buildings.

Based on the data from the sub-dept., Cakung has 48 troubled buildings, Kramatjati 41 buildings, Durensawit 38 buildings, Pasarrebo 30 buildings, Jatinegara 29 buildings, Pulogadung 20 buildings, Ciracas 18 buildings, Makasar 7 buildings and Matraman 7 buildings.

Head of section for curbing of the sub-dept., Achlak Semaun stated that Cipayung had the most number of troubled buildings because there were many idle lands in Cipayung in which many investors were interested in constructing buildings.

“A lot of idle lands in Cipayung makes investors target to build buildings there without considering the permit,” he explained, Wednesday (3/17).

The curbing action is in line with Bylaw No. 7/1991 about buildings in Jakarta Capital City. Besides having no building permit (IMB), those sealed buildings are not used properly as the first designation.

“That’s why we seal and demolish them,” he stated.

Unfortunately, he could not explain about the number of troubled houses and non house buildings in detail. He reasoned that there have been no recapitulation data from each sub-district. “We routinely hold patrol and coordination with sub-district section for the sub-dept. The detailed data is on the sub-district,” he said.

Head of the sub-dept., Bernard Sitorus, stated that the sub-dept. kept curbing troubled buildings. Even at leat two troubled buildings were curbed by the officers in one day.

In 2009, the sub-dept. had sealed as many as 1,173 buildings comprising 831 houses and 342 non houses. Meanwhile, as many as 209 buildings had been demolished by the officers, 160 houses and 49 non houses.
