| Street Vendors Rise on Jl Tipar CakungBERITAJAKARTA.COM — 3/16/2010 8:10:35 PM
The existence of street vendors (PKL) along Jl Tipar Cakung has caused a chaotic traffic jam, especially in the morning and afternoon when the labors of Bonded Area (Kawasan Berikat Nusantara) start and finish their activity. Ironically, the location of those vendors is near Sukapura urban village office, Cilincing, North Jakarta.
Based on beritajakarta.com monitoring, tens of stalls are seen along Jl Tipar Cakung starting from Sukapura urban village office heading to Cakung and vice versa.
The road becomes narrow and makes a traffic jam because 30 PKL stalls occupies the left and right side of the road.
Rahmat (34), a resident of neighborhood unit (RT) 9/community unit (RW) 2, Sukapura, Cilincing, North Jakarta justified that almost everyday the road got a traffic jam due to street vendors in that location. Moreover, the street vendors have never been controlled by the officer.
A similar statement was told by Abnuddin (40), a resident of neighborhood unit 4/community unit 1, Sukapura, Cilincing who stated that the existence of PKL has made the area dirty and slum. So, the residents asked the government to put them in order.
Responding to the case, Head of Sukapura urban village, Cilincing, North Jakarta, Ade Himawan said that previously, the PKL location was in a workshop of local young organization managed by urban village board (Dekel) RW 03 and 01. Then, Dekel developed an organization “Forum Pedagang Kaki Lima Sukapura”. But, the existence of that organization was refused by urban village administration.
Considering to avoid a chaos among of residents, Ade Himawan suggested that Cilincing Sub-district or North Jakarta administration should control the PKL.
