| City to add 15 emergency ambulances to serve poor people for freeBERITAJAKARTA.COM — 2/4/2010 4:21:27 PM
To provide better service for the poor, Jakarta Capital City will add 15 emergency ambulances this year. They will be distributed to 5 municipalities across Jakarta; 3 ambulances for one municipality. The budget is Rp 7.5 billion. With those 15 additional ambulances, the city has 47 ambulances in total.
Head of Emergency Ambulance for City Dept. of Health Service (Dinkes), John Marbun, stated that the additional ambulances are aimed to provide better service for poor people. Those ambulances are completed equipped with emergency facilities. “It makes sense that it costs much,” Marbun said, Thursday (2/4).
Based on President Decree (Keppres) No 80/2003 about goods/service procurement guideline, the procurement of those 15 ambulances should be in tender. The tender process is planned to be done in the mid of 2010.
“We are waiting for Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) recommendation to issue the budget provision letter (SPD). After that, the tender process can be done,” he explained.
Dinkes always try to provide the best service for 10 million Jakarta inhabitants. Every year Dinkes provide emergency ambulances. In 2009 there were 10 ambulances to complete 32 ambulances in five municipalities across Jakarta; six ambulances per municipality were placed in Sub-dept. of Fire Service and calamity Tackling, Police Precinct and Sub-dept. oh Health Service. The remaining two ambulances were placed in Sunter office, North Jakarta.
“Each municipality is to have nine emergency ambulances now,” he added. The poor people or disaster victims can get the service of emergency ambulance for free. While usually, the service cost is Rp 200 thousand per person.
So far, the ambulance has always served 30 to 40 health services every day. There have been 1,100 health services per month provided by the ambulance. There are 247 paramedics consisting of 233 paramedics and 14 civil servants paramedics. The emergency ambulance has been certified ISO 9008 version 2008; therefore the emergency ambulance keeps trying to improve the quality of service by holding paramedic training and adding the equipments.
Head of Dinkes, Dien Emmawati asserted that poor people and those who have Jaminan Pemeliharaan Kesehatan Keluarga Miskin (JPK-Gakin) (health insurance for the poor) can get the health services for free. The dept. will try to add more emergency ambulance every year.
