| AIDS Victim`s Siblings Will Be Checked Up BERITAJAKARTA.COM — 1/18/2010 7:15:53 PM
After Adam Malik (5) was identified suffering from HIV/AIDS, his siblings Anita Rosmayanti (13) and Hendra Lesmana (20) will be checked whether they are infected by the congenital disease from their parents who died earlier.
“We will check them soon to know if they are infected by HIV/AIDS like their brother,” said Djoko Ramadhan, East Jakarta Mayor in Semarak Muharam Celebration event, in Hankam housing complex, Palmerah, West Jakarta, Sunday (1/17). He noted, this checkup was important as the preventive action for Adam’s siblings, so that the delayed hospitalizing HIV/AIDS victim like Adam will recur. Before being hospitalized, Malik`s condition was worse because of lateness in taking care.
“We do not want Adam`s case happen to his brother and sister,” he hoped. Moreover, both of them are still young and they have good future. Beside that, Djoko pledged to pay attention to Anita who is studying in junior high school by asking Basic Education sub department west Jakarta to give her a scholarship.
Vice sub-distirct head of Tambora, Isnawa Adji, revealed that Adam was late to be hospitalized because his family thought that he just suffered from a common disease. In addition, two hospitals which treated Adam said that he just got an intestinal obstruction. Actually, Adam was identified suffering from HIV/AIDS after having check up in Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital.
“we take Adam to Koja hospital after we know that he is suffering from HIV/AIDS,” his added.
In order that this case does not recur, Isnawa Adji asked people, especially in the neighborhood unit (RT) and community unit (RW), to report immediately when they find any HIV/AIDS victim.
“I ask all the people to report such an incident to the head of district or sub-district,” he requested.
