Green Festival is going to be held again this year. The head committee of Green Festival program 2009, Nugroho Yudho, states that the Green Festival is an annual event related to global warming issue. Green Festival 2009 will be the second festival; it will be held on 5 and 6 December 2009 in East Parking Senayan, Central Jakarta.
It has been planned that the event will be officially opened by Minister of Environment, Gusti Muhammad Hatta. Some other Ministers will also attend the event, like Minister of Women Empowerment and Child protection Linda Agum Gumelar and Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Andi Mallarangeng.
“While the previous Green Festival focused on the introduction of global warming and its education to the society, this year the event will ask the society to do some act in reducing the impact of global warming in an interesting way,” Nugroho Yudho stated, Wednesday (12/2).
The committee will also hold Green Competition, a competition of knowledge about global warming and environment in common.
Green Festival areas will be divided into 4 main areas: Experience Tunnel, Zone, Workshop, and Entertainment.
People will be shown the earth condition at present that is influenced by the global warming at Experience Tunnel zone.
Five concentrations will be placed in Zone: electricity, dump, vehicle, water and tree. Visitors will be shown many things to do in saving the earth from global warming, by saving electricity and managing water as a source of our live, managing dump, and understanding tree functions, for example.
In the Workshop area, the visitors will follow some workshops to prevent the global warming impacts. Competent informants will be there.
Moreover, in Entertainment, there will be an entertainment and bazaar of environment-friendly products.
“The visitors will get a green book consisting of each zone’s information. But you have to register first,” said Nugroho.
Meanwhile, Amanda, an environment observer, states that saving the earth from global warming impacts becomes our responsibilities. Society, business world and the government have their own responsibility.
“It is not only the policy maker who have the responsibility. Other sides and all people should support to prevent global warming,” said Amanda, in a press release event, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/2).
All Jakarta people should participate in reducing global warming. For example, in the use of plastic bag; not only the consumers have to take the responsibility, the policy maker should take it as well. “Govt. has made the policy, businessman should think more about the impact of plastic bag,” she added.
