During the operation of Identity Card Raid (OYK) conducted by West Jakarta Municipal Administration, the local authorities managed to nab as many as 273 people including a foreigner identified as Armard (24), a Cameroon national. Of that number, only 202 people stood trial.
This operation which was carried out by around 120 joint personnel from West Jakarta Sub Department for Population and Civil Registry, Public Order Police Squad (Satpol PP) and National Police started at 9 am, targeting rented houses and boarding houses in three urban villages.
“My passport was taken by my travel agent,” said Armand during questioning. Armand was staying at Wisma Laguna located in RW (Community Unit) 02, Wijayakusuma urban village. He was waiting for a contract signing to play in an Indonesian football club, he admitted without mentioning the name of the club.
Achmad Fauzi, head of Sub Department for Population and Civil Registry said the Cameroon citizen would be sent to immigration office for further investigation. Achmad added that this law-enforcement operation was in line with Jakarta Gubernatorial Instruction No 21/2009 on population, the bylaw No 4/2004 on Population Registry, and the bylaw No 8/2007 on public order and urbanization monitoring efforts.
Throughout this year, West Jakarta government has undertaken five OYK operations and managed to catch thousands of people with no valid identity documents.
