BERITAJAKARTA.COM — 11/3/2009 2:30:55 PM

In a raid focusing on three sub districts in West Jakarta; Grogolpetamburan, Tambora, and Tamansari sub districts, joint personnel from West Jakarta Public Order Police Squad (Satpol PP), Police, and Indonesian Military (TNI) on Tuesday (11/3) managed to catch 58 street vendors and 30 people with welfare and social problems (PMKS) comprising street singers, beggars, homeless, and illegal parking attendants.

Those nabbed, except the street vendors, were directly sent to Kedoya Social House. The street vendors were tried at the office of Grogolpetamburan sub district. They were then obliged to pay fines ranging from Rp 100 thousand to Rp 200 thousand each.

The joint personnel numbering 150 officers combed several strategic locations like Grogol bus terminal, Jembatan Lima traffic light, and Jakarta Kota train station.

“Prior to this operation, we intensively monitored the areas,” said Choiruddin, Head of Section of Operational of West Jakarta Public Order Police Squad, Tuesday (11/3), adding that such a routine operation was carried out to uphold the bylaw No 8/2007 on public order; besides aiming at well maintaining city order.

According to Choiruddin; throughout this year, his office has nabbed around 1,000 PMKS and 500 street vendors in its order operations.
