Hot and spicy noodle

BERITAJAKARTA.COM — 10/27/2009 5:33:19 PM

Not all people know that a small semi-permanent kiosk in Sunter Agung, North Jakarta, is famous for its simple but delicious menu. Some Sunter and kemayoran residents call the menu as Mie Edan Mbah Bagong. Spending Rp 10 thousand, you can get the hot and spicy noodle.

Besides the hot and spicy noodles, other menus are boiled and fried noodle. The boiled noodle costs Rp 4 thousand while the fried noodle is Rp 4,5 thousand. For Mie Edan, you have to pay Rp 7 thousand to Rp 10 thousand.

Mie Edan has thick dressing, its color is yellow. It tastes very spicy.

You can choose the topping, which is sausage, meat balls, chicken or egg. The more topping you add, the more expensive cost you have to pay.

Suwoto, the owner, said that his popular menu comes from various spices. “First of all, fry the scrambled egg, slice chili and onion, and wait until they get boiled then put the noodle into it. And the last one is adding the topping,” he shared the recipe.

The name of Mie Edan Mbah Bagong is famous because of the owner has big body like Bagong (a figure in Indonesian puppet). Meanwhile the name Edan means crazy in English. It is because of the hot and spicy of the noodle.
