Jakarta Local Environment Management Board will allocate Rp 17 billion to buy air quality monitor station next year. It is because several air quality monitor stations have broken.
Peni Susanti for the board said that recent stations are granted by a foreign country, not owned by Jakarta City Administration. That is why the repair is hindered by allocation in city budget.
“The ownership status makes the maintenance uncertain. We want to repair the equipment, but it’s not belonging to us. It means we can not propose a fund allocation for the repair,” Susanti said, Monday (10/19).
According to her, the board has built an air quality monitor station by spending Rp 5.093 billion and next year two stations will be built. The board needs Rp 17 billion; Rp 12 billion for automatic station and Rp 5 billion for mobile station.
Concerning this plan, Zainudin MH, vice chairman Commission D stated the recent air quality monitor station is owned by Ministry of Environment. “The proposal for building new stations should be realized because it is included in our dedicated program,” he stated.
Based on the agency data, there are five stations but only two function normally. Zainuddin hoped the air quality in Jakarta can be improved and the agency`s plan to build the station can be realized.
