| A two-head Arowana in TMIIBERITAJAKARTA.COM — 29/09/2009 16:19:40
To add the collection of scarce fish, Water World (Dunia Air Tawar) Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) keeps bringing in some scarce fish. Lately, TMII brings a two-head Arowana fish from a breeder in Kalimantan. This is a beginning for TMII to show other unique animals.
The fish is in nomal condition. We have got it since 4 months ago. If we feed it, its two heads eat the food in turn. If not, one of the head is moving rudely, as if it is angry.
The uniqueness of its heads is that they have different characteristics. One of the heads is aggressive while the other is quiet. If one of the heads moves rudely, another one is quietly following where the aggressive one’s head moves.
It is 10 centimeters long; its skin is red combined with white. Its real habitat is in Kalimantan River. In TMII, the fish is placed in a 35 centimeters aquarium. It is located in the scarce animal room.
TMII water world marketing staff, Syaifudin, stated that TMII got the fish from its breeder at a high price.
Meanwhile, TMII public relations officer, Jerremias Lahama, said that the fish is a favorite one to invite a lot of visitors to TMII.
And it has been proven indeed. Previously water world TMII has been visited by 5,000 people per day but since the fish came, the number has doubled to 10,000 people per day.
“Beside a tourist destination, scarce animals can be an important education medium for people,” he added.
