To optimize the operation of Busway Integrated Border Transportation (APTB) heading for Bekasi-Pulogadung, the buses would be allowed to use Transjakarta bus lane starting next week. In so doing, hopefully, the amount of passengers would increase and makes private vehicle users choose to use the APTB.
Head of Jakarta Government Transportation Department, Udar Pristono said on Monday (6/17) this new policy will enter its trial run period. Eventually the APTB for this route will be integrated with Corridor 10 (Cililitan-Tanjungpriok) and Corridor 2 (Harmoni-Pulogadung) which passes over 14 bus stops.
The 14 bus stops are Pedati Prumpung, Jatinegara Station, Bea Cukai Ahmad Yani, Utan Kayu Rawamangun, Pemuda, Kayu Putih Rawasari, Pulomas Bypass, and Cempakaputih for Corridor 10. Meanwhile, for Corridor 2 namely Cempaka Timur, Pedongkelan, Asmi, Pulomas, Bermis, and Pulogadung. "So eventually the APTB will be integrated to Corridors 2 and 10," said Pristono, at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (9/14).
This integration will make things easier for the citizens. This is because passengers could get off at the bus stops where he/she would like to go. Initially APTB was only transporting passengers from Bekasi to Pulogadung or vice versa, without allowing passengers to get off midway. "The fleets have been modified by adding passenger doors at both sides," he explained.
The integration of APTB is making the bus lane more optimal. In the trial run of this policy, 10 buses will be operating instead of all 15 available. The rest of the buses will be put on the road when the amount of passengers has increased. Moreover, APTB could help Transjakarta to transport passengers in a short route.
The APTB ticket is applicable enough, with details, the passenger from outside or Bekasi towards Pulogadung only pays Rp 6,500 and passenger in city or short-route only Rp 3,500 where the tariff is similar to Transjakarta bus.
“The ticket is similar to feeder bus. There will be conductor to check the ticket. So, the passengers cannot manipulate it when entering toll. We hoped this policy can improve the amount of passengers,” he explained.
Such trial will be conducted for a month, and then its implementation will be evaluated. If the implementation is good, so it will be conducted continuously. Besides that, all APTB buses will also use Transjakarta bus’s lane. Initially, APTB unit also has signed this policy due to its operational has not been maximum until now. Every bus can transport 30 percent of passengers or 85 people. In common, the bus’ specification is the same with Transjakarta bus.
