Hundreds of protesters from Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) gone mad at Home Affair Ministry Office (Kemendagri), Jl Medan Merdeka Utara No 7, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Thursday (1/12). In the action, they refused alcohol circulation Bylaw revocation in several areas by Home Affair Ministry. It is Bylaw No 7/2005 in Tangerang, Bylaw No 15/2006 in Indramayu Regency and Bylaw No 11/2010 in Bandung. They deliver an oration regarding their demand which refuse Bylaw about Alcohol which done by Mendagri. FPI mass started gone mad by throwing mineral water and stones to the office due to no respond from Kemendagri. Not only that, several masses tried to enter the office by climbing fence and breaking glasses of some parking shelter at the office.
Luckily, FPI field coordinator could mitigate their anarchy actions by repelling them before entering Kemendagri office court. Police personnel who standby seemed not ready because their total members less than masses. Moreover, another demonstration was also held in front of Presidential palace at the same time.
Habib Selon, Jakarta FPI chief mentioned that demonstration was attended by around 2,000 FPI masses from Jakarta, Sukabumi, Bandung and several areas in East Java. He claimed that Kemendagri slow response has triggered incident in this action. “If our demand is ignored, we’ll undergo sweeping to kiosks selling alcohol drink in Jakarta,” he stated in the middle of demonstration, Thursday (1/12).
As a result, traffic flow on Jl Medan Merdeka Utara had closed. As a result Jl Medan Merdeka Utara to Bundaran HI or the opposite side had traffic congestion.
